Booneville quarterback Cody Harrel ran 20 times for 167 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another as the Booneville Bearcats swamped previously unbeaten Pine Bluff Dollarway 43-14 Friday night.

With the win in a game played in a steady, cold downpour at Golden Lion Stadium on the campus of the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff, the Bearcats (14-0) earned a spot in the Class 4A state championship game against Warren next Friday at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

The Cardinals (13-1) won the toss but deferred their choice to the second half. Booneville scored on their first possession as Josh Smith ran 11 yards for a touchdown.

Then Harrel took over.

His 14-yard run made it 14-0 and an 11-yard scoring burst gave him 116 yards at the half and Booneville a 20-0 lead.

After Dollarway cut it to 20-8, a 27-yard Harrel to Matt Berry touchdown pass and Bryson May’s two point conversion run made it 28-8.

Harrel went 34 yards for another score and Justin Shackleford’s two point conversion made it 36-14.

Dollarway cut it to 36-14 on a 1-yard sneak by Joshua Liddell but May went 9 yards for a clinching touchdown – his school record tying 27th of the season – and with Smith’s third point after it was 43-14.
