Booneville started its swan song through Conference 4A-4 with a lopsided 35-7 win over Waldron on Homecoming night at Bearcat Stadium Friday — the Bearcats will be competing in Class 3A next year.

Matt Berry wasted no time getting the Bearcats (4-0, 1-0) in front, returning the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown to make it 6-0.

Before the first half ended fullback Bryson May had reached the end zone three times. Four if you count a two point conversion that followed his first touchdown, a run of 20 yards that made it 14-0.

May also went 4 yards for a first quarter touchdown and Cody Harrel hit Josh Smith for 18 yards and another score and it was 28-0 when the team’s changed ends of the field.

May’s 16-yard run at the 6:31 mark of the second quarter made it 35-0 after Landon Vance kicked his third point after.

May finished the night with just eight carries for a team high 70 yards. Backup fullback Sam Cooney logged nine carries for another 44 yards, the same number of passing yards for Harrel.

Waldron (0-4, 0-1), which had 21 total yards in the first half, scored its first points in three years when Ber Chang raced in from the 8 with 10:41 to go in the game.
