Bearcats win third district title of school year

Seven was enough on Thursday for the Lady Bearcat track squad, which finished as the runner-up in the District 3A-4 meet held in Jessieville.

Four squad members are freshmen who led the way to a 3A-4 junior high title.

Sophomore Brooklyn Zarlingo continued her stellar season by winning the high point award at the meet with 51 points. She is now qualified for Tuesday’s state track meet in Green Forest in five events.

Six of the girls earned their way into the state track meet.

The Bearcats, meanwhile, captured the school’s third district title of the school year, adding track to football and basketball.

Including two relay teams, freshman Randon Ray qualified for the state meet in four events and the Bearcats qualified athletes in 10 events.
