Daniel Witt hit a 3 pointer with :07 to go and the Magazine Junior High Rattlers picked up a 29-28, nonconference win on at county rival Scranton Thursday.

Witt’s basket gave him 16 points in the game, to go along with six steals.

Magazine had led 22-14 after a third quarter 3 by Witt but Scranton cut it to 22-19 by the end of the quarter.

Witt scored again early in the fourth quarter and one of Haden Littleton’s three baskets gave Magazine a 26-21 lead.

However, Scranton scored the next seven points, taking a 28-26 lead with 1:13 to play.

Witt — the Rattlers were playing without leading scorer Ashton Droemer — forced a jump ball after the Rockets got the ball back with the score unchanged.

The Rattlers again failed to score with alternating possession and Reese Nietert fouled to give Scranton a one-and-one, which was missed with Littleton grabbing the rebound.

Out of a time out Witt came off a screen, took a pass from Nietert and hit the 3 for the lead.

Austin Krigbaum knocked the ball away from the Rockets to prevent a potential winning shot.

Scranton won the girls game 32-10. Destiny Corley scored four points for the Lady Rattlers.
