The single game interception record in a game by the Bearcats came against Mansfield in 2001 when there were seven, with three by Nathan Adair, two by Brad West and one each by Bryan Taylor and Nathan Waters.

Carson Ray had a career high five touchdown last week, becoming only the eighth Bearcat to score at least five times in a game. If you’re curious, that list does not include his father, Allen “Gator” Ray.

With two touchdown passes last week Evan Schlinker now has six on the season. If you’re wondering, his father, John, never threw that many in a season.

THIS DATE IN BEARCAT HISTORY: The Bearcats are 8-4 all time in games played on Oct. 12.

Roy Jack Tomlin, Jr. ran 85 yards for a touchdown against Greenwood on Oct. 12, 1979 and John Schlinker went 78 for one against Mena on Oct. 5, 1990.

There are also a pair of standout defensive games on Oct. 12. The defense recorded nine sacks in a 17-8 win over Dover on Oct. 12, 1984 and there were seven sacks in the Oct. 12, 2001 game against Waldron.

LAST NIGHT: The Booneville Junior High Bearats scored on their first four possessions and led 32-0, which was the final at Mansfield. The win moved the Bearcats above .500 for the first time this season at 4-3. Randon Ray and Rocky Ross both ran for two touchdowns.

Rylen Ray and Dax Goff both ran for two touchdowns in the seventh grade game for the Bearcats, who won 30-6, to improve to 7-1 on the season.
