Had a chance to keep it a one score game at the half.

The Magazine Rattlers are coming off a blowout loss in which they allowed over 400 yards of offense to Mount Ida, who has reached the Class 2A state championship game in each of the last two seasons, winning the title in 2016.

As bad as the 33-0 final score indicates the Rattlers were one play from going to the half down only 7-0.

Cade Jackson hit Gage Dyer across the middle of the field and Dyer went 47 yards to the Rattler 5 before finally being knocked out of bounds by Tatum Scott.

The clock showed all zeroes but officials determined that to be in error — Powell said the call was correct — and the Lions got a touchdown run from Jonathan Lagrange on the next play to make it 13-0.

The Lions proceeded to score on their next three possessions to put the game away. Jackson and Lagrange both ran for their second touchdowns and the duo also hooked up on a 32-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the final quarter.

Magazine’s deepest penetration of the night would be the Lion 35-yard line, which happened twice. The first game with Mount Ida leading 7-0 and was the result of a fumble caused by Xeng Yang, which was recovered by Jacob Hall.

The second came with the game out of reach and ended, as had the first quarter possession, on a turnover on downs.

Magazine managed just 120 yards of total offense with Caleb Hyatt (11-60) and Kobe Faughn (9-51) accounting for the majority.

The Rattlers have an open date this week and return to action on Sept. 14 at Cutter Morning Star.
