Cedarville ran only four plays during a regulation quarter of football Friday night in Magazine. They scored on two of them.
The Rattlers began the timed session of the scrimmage with a turnover as Tatum Scott was intercepted by Dylan Murray at the Magazine 45-yard line.
Kelin Mitchell scored the next play and Easton Mongold added the point after.
Scott rumbled 23 yards on the next Rattler possession but there were three penalty flags over the next minute and a half before a second Rattler turnover, a fumble recovered by Alex Ascencio.
The Rattlers and Pirates were flagged nine times in the quarter of play and, including the pair of scripted play sessions, there were 13 flags on the night.
Three plays, and two more penalties following the second turnover, August Pruhs hooked up with Murray for a 62-yard touchdown and Mongold again added the PAT.
The Rattlers picked up their second first down on what would be the final possession of the night but Xeng Yang was sacked on the final two plays of the night.
Cedarville ran 10 plays to start the night, scoring once on a 54-yard pass from Pruhs to Calloway Henslee.
Magazine did not score during its first possession of eight plays, nor did Cedarville on their second session, which also consisted of eight plays.
The Rattlers did get a 70-yard run from Caleb Hyatt during their 10-play session accounting for the Rattler highlight of the night.
Magazine will open its 2018 season Friday night when they travel to Bigelow.
