Losing a player for several weeks and, perhaps, a game from their schedule, Magazine did not have a good first week of off season work in preparation for the 2018 football season.

Sophomore Tatum Scott, who as an eighth grader helped lead the Magazine Jr. Rattlers to a conference title and as a freshman scored 100 points, sustained a broken collar bone and will be watching training for most of the summer.

The game in question is a Sept. 28 date with Decatur.

The Bulldogs were one of five schools to commit to playing 8-man football as a club sport for the next two years.

While at least one of the five schools has pledged to go forward with its 11-man schedules for the upcoming two-year cycle, Rattler head coach Doug Powell said he is uncertain if that will be the case with Decatur.

Decatur, which routinely struggles with numbers, shut down their season early last year after injuries depleted an already thin roster. Magazine, however, was one of the schools to have already played the Bulldogs before the stoppage.

The current 2018 Magazine schedule is as follows:

Aug. 17 at Cedarville (scrimmage)

Aug. 24 at Bigelow

Aug. 31 Mount Ida

Sept. 7 Open

Sept. 14 at Cutter Morning Star

Sept. 21 Hackett

Sept. 28 at Decatur

Oct. 5 Hector

Oct. 12 at Lavaca

Oct. 19 JC Westside

Oct. 26 at Mountainburg

Nov. 2 Western Yell County
