The Booneville Bearcats made it back-to-back road wins with a 35-14 decision Friday night at Vilonia to close out the nonconference portion of the schedule.

Scoring on four of five first half possessions the Bearcats (2-1) led 28-0 at the half but turned the ball over on downs at the Eagle 25-yard line to start the second half, preventing the sportsmanship rule from taking effect.

In the first quarter it was Brandon Ulmer going 47 yards for the first points of the night and Grant Rodatz also going 47 to make it 14-0.

The second quarter saw sophomore Andrew Robertson score on runs of 5 and 14 yards and it was 28-0.

After Class 5A Vilonia (1-2) went 75 yards to cut it to 28-7 on a 25-yard run by Ben Duff, the Bearcats answered with Mike Hesson scoring from the 4 with 10:05 to play to make it a four touchdown lead again at 35-7.

Vilonia got within 35-14 less than four minutes later on a Jordan Britton 18-yard pass to Austin Koonce. The Eagles had a chance to get closer but the Bearcat defense made a fourth down stop at their 4 with 1:09 to go.

Ulmer ran 11 times for 118 yards and Hesson added 91 yards on 16 carries. Rodatz had 74 yards, Robertson had 41 yards and Jeremy Elliott ran for 47 as the five combined for 371 rushing yards.

Vilonia got 125 yards passing from Jordan Britton (14-19-1) and 107 yards from Iriah Roca on 13 carries to go with 84 yards and a touchdown from Duff on 17 carries.

The Rattlers were idle but beat the Lamar JV on Tuesday, 28-17.
