Given the format of the action between the Booneville and Alma seventh grade football teams it’s hard to say Booneville won.
Given the result of the play it’s harder to say Booneville didn’t.
A 10 minute session of the Bearcat defense against Alma’s Green team — about 60 players were split into two teams — saw Alma’s contingent net zero yards. There were sacks by Randon Ray with Taiten Rice, Caleb Smith, Ray with Elijah Ferguson and Ferguson with Rice and an interception by Blazen Jones.
The 10-minute session of the Bearcats against the Gold team defense saw three Rocky Ross touchdowns and 136 of the 180 total yards.
After the two Alma teams went at each other the Bearcat defense faced the Gold offense and was a little more penetrable, but the Gold team managed just 44 yards and did not score, which could be at least partially attributed to two Ross sacks.
The offense was not as successful against the Green defense but did score once, again by Ross, who had 180 total yards.
The Bearcat seventh grade team will be at home tomorrow hosting Pottsville with a simulated kickoff starting play at 5:30.
