Hyatt runs for 109 yards
The Magazine Junior High Rattlers scored 24 unanswered second half points to erase a halftime deficit against the Waldron Junior Varsity in a 30-14 win Tuesday.
The deficit was erased on the second half opening kickoff as Caleb Hyatt returned the kickoff 74 yards for a touchdown then added the two point conversion as well to make it 14-14.
Hyatt wasn’t finished. After a fourth down stop at the Rattler 40 gave Magazine the ball back, Hyatt went 60 yards. Kobe Faughn added the extra two and it was 22-14.
Hyatt finished the night with 109 yards on just five plays.
Magazine put the game away with a quick 78-yard drive in the fourth quarter that included four runs of at least 14 yards, with the touchdown coming from the 28 by Xeng Yang. Tatum Scott added the extra two to set the final at 30-14.
Brenden Williams hit Cade Williams for 74 yards and a touchdown to give Waldron a 6-0 lead but Hyatt answered that with an 11-yard touchdown run to tie it at 6-6.
Waldron went back in front on a 3-yard touchdown run by Gavlen Wagner just 22 seconds before halftime. Williams added the two point conversion.
The Junior Rattlers were scheduled to face Lamar’s JV Monday and will return to action against Hackett on Thursday, Sept. 22.
