The Booneville Police Department and Logan County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up to provide mandated instruction for 10 jailers.

A legally mandated course for those who work as jailers, the 40-hour class will hold its fourth eight-hour session when the group meets today.

BPD Chief Al Brown, Lt. Steve Reid and LCSO Chief Deputy/Jail Administrator David Spicer are conducting the instruction for five LCSO employees, a pair from the BPD and three more from Scott County.

The first two eight hour sessions were held at the Office of Emergency Management in Paris and the final three classes were set for the conference room of the Booneville Municipal Complex.

Topics covered in the course include constitutional rights, courtroom testimony, jail documents, cell searches, escape prevention, fingerprinting, and search of person. The course ends next week with an exam and critique.
