The first announced casualty of the expected winter storm front coming towards the South Logan County area is the 32nd annual Booneville Christmas Parade.

Originally set for Saturday, the parade has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, Booneville Development Corporation/South Logan County Chamber of Commerce executive director Stacey McCollough announced Wednesday.

The Santa Claus visit with children, which typically follows the parade, has been moved to the First Baptist Church Family Life Center due to a scheduling conflict with the Jeral Hampton Meeting Place.

Later Wednesday Booneville Mayor Jerry Wilkins announced the tree lighting ceremony set for Friday has also been scrubbed. Rather than delay lighting for a ceremony, Wilkins said power to the trees would be turned on when all were prepared.
