Bridge deck rehabilitation and paving has required lane closures on both Interstate 540 and Interstate 40 in Van Buren that is expected to last up to four weeks.

According to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials the following closures will be put into place as weather permits:

• The inside northbound and southbound lanes of I-540 between mile markers two and three have been closed since Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. and will remain in place until bridge deck resurfacing work is complete. The job is estimated to take about four weeks.

• Alternating lanes of I-40 in the eastbound direction between mile markers 12 and 17 will be closed for asphalt paving operations. These lane closures will be in place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly for about three more weeks.

•  Alternating lanes of I-40 in the westbound direction between mile markers three and five will be closed for bridge deck repair and sealing,  8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly for about three more weeks.
