The Booneville Elementary School and Boys & Girls Club of South Logan County announced last week their partnership application for a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant.
The 21st CCLC is awarded through the Arkansas Department of Education and are supported through the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
The primary purpose of the Arkansas 21st CCLC program is establishing or increasing community learning centers that operate during non-school hours. Programs of the 21st CCLC offer academic, artistic and cultural enrichment opportunities to students and their families when school is not in session.
The focus of the Booneville Elementary and Boys & Girls Club application is expanding the academic and enrichment activities offered to students in kindergarten through sixth grade after the final bell has sounded each day.
Activities will complement the current afterschool programs already in place at the Boys & Girls Club and allow the school to become a collaborative partner.
Anyone interested in learning more about the program may stop by the Booneville School District Administration Office located at 381 West Seventh Street.
