A mental evaluation was ordered Friday for a man charged with 29 counts of possession of or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

A Christmas day incident led to the man, Shawn Michael Buckner, 34, to being charged according to court documents.

During arraignment on the charges Friday, public defender Beth Wright was appointed to represent Buckner and a plea of not guilty was entered.

In addition to the first offense child porn charge, Buckner is charged with felony terroristic threatening and resisting arrest in a second case. Wright was also appointed in that case Friday and a not guilty plea was also entered in that case as well.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit in the child porn case family members found images of a naked child on Buckner’s phone and, after obtaining a search warrant for the phone, investigators found a file named “naked screenshots,” which contained 29 images of a naked pre-teen female.

The possession of sexually explicit images charges against Buckner are Class C felonies.

Buckner, whose address on court documents is listed as both Van Buren and Booneville, is also charged with pulling a knife and threatening to kill his family and keeping his hands from being cuffed by a Booneville Police Officer while stating he was not going to jail, th arrest warrant affidavit indicates.

The threatening charge is a Class D felony. The resisting charge is a misdemeanor.
