Sykes Enterprises Inc.'s Fort Smith service center intends to add more than 200 jobs.

The Tampa-based company announced Thursday through the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce it had secured a new contract that will require more than 200 new jobs be added to its current workforce this year.

"Sykes Enterprises, a service provider for many Fortune 500 companies, continues to show its commitment to operate in this region with an exciting announcement in growth at its Fort Smith facility," the chamber news release states.

Sykes located the service center at the repurposed Phoenix Mall in Fort Smith in 2011. It currently employs about 500 associates. Shared Services Center, a regional medical billings business, is also located in the building.

“Since the start of locating operations in Fort Smith, the city and the Chamber of Commerce have been tremendously supportive of our investments and business," said Abbie Littleton, site director for Sykes Fort Smith. "Their support and the high quality of the workforce here in the area provide our company opportunities for continued growth and ensure the highest service possible to our clients."

Sykes has locations in more than 20 countries, offering support in more than 40 languages through support channels including chat, social media, email and voice.

"This announcement underscores that Fort Smith is a great city from which to run a business and it is a testament to Fort Smith’s diverse economy,” said Tim Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Smith Chamber. "This announcement is not only great news for Sykes, but for Fort Smith and the many people who will enjoy employment as a result of this continued growth."
