Logan County residents who want to get in touch with Congressman Bruce Westerman’s staff can do so with a visit to Ozark.

The office opened in 2016 but remains somewhat of an unknown.

One of four offices he maintains, Westerman’s Ozark office is located within the Franklin County Courthouse, at 211 Commercial Street. The office is in the basement, around the corner from the Franklin County Judge’s office.

Some people are not aware of how to contact, or when, their Congressman, Western’s director of case work services Tracy Cross said last week.

“A lot of people don’t know when to call their congressman, and what for, unless they’re complaining about legislation,” she said. “Most people don’t realize we help individuals.

“Even if it’s something we can’t help them with, we will try to point them in the right direction.”

Cross handles issues involving federal agencies from the office.

“For instance if someone has an issue dealing with the IRS they can contact our office, fill out our privacy form and then we will get their issue to the IRS, or the VA, or to Social Security and get an answer for them,” said Cross. “So we’re kind of like the liaison between the constituents and the agencies.

“A lot of people aren’t aware we do that.”

Also located in the office is Bobby Ballinger who does case work and is also the field representative for the area, which means he travels with Westerman when the Congressman is in the area , and ihe nteracts with other elected officials.

Westerman maintains four offices in hopes of having personnel within 90 to 120 minutes from anyone in District 4, which includes 33 counties. Other offices are located in Hot Springs, Pine Bluff and El Dorado.

The Ozark office is open form 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The telephone number is (479) 667-0075.
