A death investigation is ongoing in Johnson County, according to a news release on the Johnson County Sheriff's Office website.
At about 7:30 a.m. Monday, Johnson County 911 received a call of a possible body in the yard at the residence on the corner of Ash Street and U.S. 64 in Knoxville, the release states. Deputies responded and found a man dead in the yard. The Arkansas State Police and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office are working on the investigation. Foul play is suspected. The man has not yet been identified. No other details are available at this time. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Shots fired in Knoxville later in the day were not associated with the slaying, according to the release.
"We are working only one death investigation," the release states. "No other bodies have been reported today. The shots fired in Knoxville this afternoon were the result of someone discharging their firearm at their residence. Although multiple officers and agencies responded, no foul play was suspected."
