An admitted pimp from Fort Smith has been federally sentenced to more than a decade in prison.
Kenyan Roane, 31, was sentenced Monday to 12 years and seven months in federal prison and 10 years of supervised release on one count of sex trafficking of children. Roane confessed his activities to an undercover law enforcement officer prior to his arrest, according to a Western District of Arkansas news release.
A woman around Nov. 13, 2017 reported her 16-year-old daughter was a victim of sex trafficking. Law enforcement officials determined the child was sexually trafficked in the Fayetteville and Fort Smith area and that Roane was the child's pimp, the release states.
Roane told an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a 16-year-old girl on Facebook he "promotes females" and is a pimp. The undercover officer stayed in contact with Roane into January, when officials arrested him in Texarkana, the release states.
Roane was indicted in January by a federal grand jury and pleaded guilty in April, the release states.
Rogers and Texarkana police and FBI officials conducted the investigation into Roane's behavior, the release states.
