Hundreds of pounds of marijuana were once again discovered at the Alma Weigh Station this past weekend.

Arkansas Highway Police discovered 200 pounds of marijuana during a commercial vehicle motor safety inspection on Sunday at the weigh station. The driver, Eduardo Ruiz, of Miami, Fla., was taken to the Crawford County Detention Center and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to an Arkansas Department of Transportation news release.

Police found the marijuana in the sleeper berth area of the vehicle, which is a small compartment attached to the cab where the driver can rest while taking a break. The vehicle was operated by Rio Miel Transport, LLC of Miami.

According to bills of lading, the vehicle's main load of refrigerated foods came from Platteville, Colo. and was being delivered to Anniston, Ala., the release states.

Highway Police discovered 340 pounds of marijuana in a truck passing through the weigh station on April 30 and 232 pounds of marijuana in a truck passing through the weigh station on April 21. Sunday's drug seizure was one of five major drug seizures at the weigh station in the last six months, the release states.
