A Logan County Deputy crashed his patrol unit south of Booneville in the early morning hours of Friday, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook post.

Skyler McElroy was driving the Tahoe unit, which Sheriff Boyd Hicks said is a 2009 or 2010 model, en route to a call from a resident who suspected someone was attempting to break into their home when it slid off of Highway 217 south of Booneville and struck a fence and trees about 2 a.m. on Feb. 23.

Other law enforcement officers responded to the call and found no one in or around the caller’s property, the post states.

McElroy sustained only minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Booneville.

Hicks issued a thank you to the Arkansas State Police, who investigated the accident, and the Booneville Police Department for responding to aid Deputy McElroy.
