One person was killed in a fire Tuesday morning in Crawford County.

The blaze, which destroyed the residence at 7600 Moat Road, left one resident dead and another with burns, Crawford County Division 1 Fire Chief Scott Price said. Price said the victim, an elderly man, was transported to a burn center at a hospital in Little Rock.

Price said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire was called in to dispatch around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Price said.

“When the firemen arrived, they had about a quarter of the house on fire, and they had a grass fire, and also a car on fire, and two occupants inside," Price said.

Price said his fire department's first objective Tuesday morning was "to try to get the occupants out." Once the two occupants were outside the burning structure, the focus shifted to combating the blaze.

Division 1 was assisted by the Mountainburg Fire Department, Southwest EMS and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Price said.

Price cited the structure as a loss.
