The 2017 South Logan County fair has an added attraction of a one-day business expo to be held in the Mizell Building at the fairgrounds on Friday, Sept. 8.
The 74th annual fair will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Saturday, Sept. 9, at the South Logan County Fairgrounds on Carolan Road.
The business expo, set from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., is being organized by the Booneville Development Corporation/South Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
“Rockline is going to be out there, they’re going to be taking applications,” said BDC/Chamber Executive Director Susan Featherston. “Tyler Ford will have vehicles out there.
Others among the South Logan County exclusive list include funeral homes, banks, clothing boutiques, churches and even some assistance agencies.
“The ideal was to help the fair come up with more money,” said Featherston, who said she volunteered to lead the project. “The thing is the fair needs money. I had a couple people say we need to get some more of the businesses where people can see them. Where else do you know that is a better place for people to see it than out there?”
The livestock show and fair starts with the kids show-de-o and hay show on Tuesday night, Sept. 5. The Wednesday schedule includes home economics judging and livestock check-ins. Thursday will feature the annual free chuckwagon dinner and rabbit show.
The weekend line up has a Friday filled with livestock shows, including sheep and goat, beef, dairy and swine. Saturday’s lineup includes a horse show, 4-H pullet auction, dog show and the junior premium auction to wrap up the five day affair.
