A wanted man turned himself into the Johnson County Sheriff's Office on Monday evening.

A post on the Johnson County Sheriff's Office Facebook page that was posted after 7 p.m. Monday said Jacob Gifford turned himself in to the department and is currently in custody. A Monday morning Facebook post stated Gifford was wanted for attempted murder in connection with a July 24 incident. He was also considered to be armed and dangerous.

Johnson County Sheriff Larry Jones said in a news release July 25 that the Sheriff's Office received a call of an accident south of Hartman in the western part of Johnson County at about 4:03 p.m. July 24. When deputies arrived, it was discovered an altercation had occurred and a person had reportedly been stabbed. Further investigation determined that the person who had been stabbed was at the Johnson County Regional Medical Center. The injured man was subsequently treated and released.

The news release, which described the investigation as ongoing, stated J.D. Gifford II and Kayla Gifford are being held in the Johnson County Detention Center on preliminary charges of aggravated assault. It also described Jacob Gifford as a person of interest in the case, who was being sought for questioning before turning himself in Monday.
