Home economics check-ins began yesterday afternoon and last night’s annual hay show and kids show-de-o signaled the official start to the 73rd annual South Logan County Fair and Livestock Show
Today the event list includes livestock and poultry check-in from noon until 5 p.m. and the livestock weigh-in at 6 p.m. (or until all animals are on premises).
Thursday schedule includes a check in of house plants and flowers from 8 to 11 a.m.; poultry judging at 9 a.m.; the rabbit show kicking off the livestock shows at 3 p.m.; the annual free chuck wagon dinner sponsored by First Western Bank from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; and musical entertainment at 5 p.m., during which time there will also be a radio station live remote.
Friday’s docket will include the sheep and goat followed by the beef/dairy/swine shows and a pulled pork dinner (dinner cooked and donated by Joe O’Bar), all getting started at 5 p.m.
The fair concludes on Saturday, Sept. 10 with a full day including horse show registration at 7-7:45 a.m.; 4-H horse show at 8 a.m.; the 4-H pullet auction at 1 p.m.; the 12th annual dog show at 2; trophy presentation at 3:30; the junior premium auction dinner at 5:30 and the 19th annual junior premium auction at 6:30.
Poultry and livestock exhibits can be checked out after the auction and home ec exhibits can be checked out from noon to 2 p.m.on Sunday.
Nightly admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children, but a wristband is available for $5 which permits the owner nightly admission to the grounds.
