The Logan County Fair will take place this week at the fairgrounds, located next to the Paris-Subiaco Municipal Airport on East Walnut Street in Paris.

The fair opens today and closes Saturday.

Fair Association Board Chairman Lindel Parsons said last week this will be his last county fair as chairman of the board.

“I might stay on the board, but it will be my last as board chairman,” Parsons said. “There’s no sadness for me. I just hope it doesn’t rain. That’s different, because normally I’m worried about hot weather affecting the crowd.”

The weather forecast this week includes chances of showers every day but highs are going to be in the low 90s as this unusually cool and wet month of August continues.

The program of events includes normal fair activities. Today is a free gate admission day with judging in various areas. The carnival, provided again this year by Johnson Brothers Amusements of El Dorado, opens Thursday. There will be a $2 charge to enter the fair Thursday through Saturday. Entertainment will be presented Thursday and Friday nights. Saturday there will be a dog show at 10 a.m., a talent show at 2 p.m., a Junior Premium Auction dinner at 5 p.m. and the Junior Premium Auction at 6:30 p.m. in addition to the carnival.
