Spring Break Day Camp
The Fort Smith Marshal’s Museum will hold spring break day camps from kids through sixth grade this week. The event will be held at the Riverfront Pavilion at 100 North B in Fort Smith. The third and fourth grade camp is today (March 20) and the fifth and sixth grade camp is Thursday. The event begins at 9 a.m. each day.
Help your child’s natural curiosity soar this spring break by signing them up to be a detective for the United States Marshals Museum. Working in teams, children will investigate who has been stealing artifacts from the Museum’s collection using STEM-related activities. They’ll start by identifying the evidence left behind at the crime scene and then analyze it to see if they can figure out who the perpetrator is.
Their roles will then reverse and they’ll become the suspect trying to break into a locked box alongside their team of campers. They must think and communicate together as to how to crack into their box of loot, helping them build relationships and fine-tune their problem solving skills. There will be multiple tasks that need to be completed in order to accomplish their goal including mathematics, puzzle solving, reasoning, and cooperation.
Ronnie Milsap will appear in concert at Temple Live in Fort Smith on Saturday, March 23. The show starts at 8, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Milsap ranks as the pre-eminent country soul singer of his generation. He also represents much more than any two-word definition can convey: a humble, overtly friendly fellow with a talent as vast and multi-dimensional as the American South. Milsap provided country music with one of its most important voices, as the genre was moving beyond its rural roots into the mainstream of modern entertainment.
Radney Foster will be in concert at Gilley’s inside the Choctaw Casino and Resort in Pocola, Okla., at 9 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 23
