Restless Heart

Restless Heart band will kick-off the Season of Entertainment at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Greenwood Performing Arts Center. Restless Heart was popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Their recognizable songs include “When She Cries,” “Bluest Eyes in Texas,” “Why Does It Have To Be (Wrong or Right),” and “I’ll Still Be Loving You.”

Courtney Cole Free Concert at UAFS

Rising CMT (Country Music Television) artist Courtney Cole will bring her unique style to the River Valley on Thursday, Sept. 8 at the U of A Fort Smith in collaboration with Rich Mountain Community College at the Stubblefield Center on UAFS campus. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tailgating at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are free but required for admission. Cole is one of the top up-and-coming country music artists in the nation. Her recent single hit number one on Taste of Country’s Top 10 Countdown, and she opened for Miranda Lambert on the 2015 “Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour.”

Cole said, “Music and education are a powerful combination. Having the opportunity to meet students and hear their stories is something I am looking forward to.”

Additionally the Be Pro Be Proud trailer will be set up outside of the Stubblefield Center for students from 4-6 p.m., sponsored by the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce.

Jazz Eureka Festival 2016

The festival is Sept. 8-11, kicking off on Sept. 8 with a Roaring 20s party on the lawn of the Crescent Hotel gardens at 75 Prospect. Sept. 9 is the Rodney Block Collective for a Block Party in Basin Spring Park, 7-9. On Saturday, Sept. 10 Basin Spring Park hosts jazz concerts from noon until 6 p.m. featuring Matt and Gus Smith; The Claudia Burson Trio; the Calle Soul Band and Justin Young.

The headliner, The Brubeck Brothers Quartet will perform at Eureka Springs Auditorium at 36 S. Main at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are $30 and available at www.theauditorium.org. A local and group rate is available using the code JAZZEUREKA2016 at checkout. There will be a jazz jam party afterwards at Brews.
