The Magazine Lady Rattlers stepped out of conference play last week taking on smaller, equal and larger size schools over the course of four days.

Lady Rattlers 5 Western Yell 4

After Western Yell scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game, Megan Downs plated the eventual game winner with a ground ball in the top of the seventh.

Downs drove in Megan Hall who had walked to open the inning, stolen second and moved to third on a single by Destiny Bennett.

The Lady Wolverines got a single from Lopez in the bottom of the inning, but she was erased trying to steal and Kayla Canada finished the game with a ground ball out.

Bennett reached and scored on a single by Downs in the second. Madison Cotton and Dena Watson singled in the third but both were erased on fielders’ choices before a single by Loren Mathews got a run to make it 2-1.

In the fourth Canada singled and scored on a single by Cotton to make it 3-1. Michelle Rogers singled in the sixth but was out on a fielder’s choice by Canada, who scored after a double by Taylor Epperson.

Mulberry 9

Three times Magazine fell behind Mulberry Thursday afternoon and were able to forge a tie, but the fourth time the Lady Yellow Jackets pulled ahead they were able to stay ahead.

After a 1-1 tie through one, 3-3 tie through two and a 6-6 tie through five, Mulberry took the lead for good on a two run triple by Treat. A seventh inning run gave Mulberry an extra cushion.

Kalyn Bryan singled and Karley Dubroc scored on a double by Taylor Epperson in the first and Loren Mathews and Kayla Canada scored in the second.

Errors allowed Destiny Bennett and Mathews to reach in the fourth and both came around to score to cut a 6-3 deficit to 6-5.

Magazine tied it in the fifth when Dena Watson scored on a single by Bennett.
