The tournament, however, would become a mere three team bracket in which the Magazine Lady Rattlers bounced J.C.Westside 6-1 then rallied from a 5-0 deficit to tie conference unbeaten and regular season champion Mountainburg at 5-5 before falling 6-5 Saturday evening.

Their conference season completed the Magazine Lady Rattlers tuned up for the weekend’s district tournament by knocking off County Line Thursday.

Caitlynn Reed and Dena Watson had a pair of hits apiece and both were involved with a single and a double, respectively, to get the Lady Rattlers off to a 2-0 lead.

Reed walked, Megan Hall singled and Kalyn Bryan also walked in a three run fourth to make it 5-0.

Having been retired in order to that point Westside got three hits and one run back against Canada in the top of fourth, but she allowed just one hit and one walk the rest of the way.

Kayla Canada and Madison Cotton both walked to start the sixth and Canada later scored to make it 6-1.

Down 5-0 Loren Mathews worked a one out walk in the fifth for the Lady Rattlers and Megan Downs and Kayla Canada reached as well via a base on balls. Madison Cotton singled and after two were down Dena Watson and Megan Hall both walked and Kalyn Bryan singled and Destiny Bennett walked before the inning ended.

A single by Carpenter and a two-out double by Kosier gave the Lady Dragons the lead back at 6-5.

The Lady Rattlers got walks by Watson and Bryan but were unable to push across the tying run.

Dena Watson and Megan Hall had a pair of hits and two RBI each in the win over the Lady Indians and Kayla Canada also added a couple of hits in the nine hit attack.

Magazine was clinging to a one run lead going to the fifth when Madison Cotton singled to open the inning. After a walk to Kalyn Bryan walked, Caitlynn Reed grounded out. Hall followed with a single to score Cotton and Watson tripled home Bryan and Reed to make it 5-1.

After County Line took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, Reed drove in a run with a single to tie it in the third. A ground ball out by Hall drove in the go-ahead run for the Lady Rattlers to make it 2-1.
