The Booneville School Board’s policy change to allow freshmen to compete in the senior high district track meet has already paid dividends.

During the 4A-4 meet held yesterday (April 25) in Waldron, Riley Taylor, who on Monday competed in the junior high district track meet, qualified for the Class 4A state meet.

Taylor did so by running one leg of the 4x800-meter relay — Lauren Lloyd, Logan Lyle and Taylor Rhinehart were the others — that finished second with a time of 11:10. Taylor ran a leg of the 4x800-meter relay team that won the event in the junior high as well.

The top two finishers in each district meet are invited to the Class 4A meet set for May 2 in Heber Springs.
