When sports schedules are set for the 2014-2015 school years by Booneville and Magazine officials, look for some different names.

That’s because the Arkansas Activities Association last week released conference assignments for member schools.

Having already been announced that Booneville was dropping in classification from Class 4A to 3A, it stood to reason that the Bearcat schedules were going to be vastly different. All that remained was who the conference foes would be.

Announced last week as members of Conference 3A-4 for the next two years are Booneville, Charleston, Danville, Lamar, Lavaca, Mansfield, Paris and Two Rivers.

For basketball the group adds Atkins, but loses both Mansfield and Lavaca to the 3A-1 West.

In Class 2A Magazine remains in the 2A-4 along with the same opponents it will face this year: Decatur, Hackett, Hartford, Hector, Mountainburg, Union Christian, Western Yell County and Johnson County Westside.

The change will be in hoops where non-football playing Eureka Springs and Benton County School of the Arts are added to the mix to form the 2A-4 West but Hector and Western Yell County shift to the 2A-4 East.

Traditionally baseball follows the basketball alignment and track the football alignment which can create difficult scheduling issues.
