Booneville’s Darby Beason placed 12th in the Class 4A state golf tournament held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Thunder Bayou Golf Course in Blytheville.

After getting some experience at the state tournament a year ago, this time Darby set out to compete with higher expectations. The competition was very strong, especially with host team Valley View, who is moving up to class 5A next fall.

Beason showed class by fighting through a difficult round. After firing a 50 over the front nine holes, Darby bounced back with a 45 on the back nine, finishing her round of 18 holes with a 95.

She tied for 12th place in a field of almost 60 competitors.

"With two more years of eligibility left, we will continue to see great accomplishments from Miss Beason," said Golf coach Jason Wallace. "Especially, with the Bearcats moving down to class 3A for her junior and senior seasons."
