Booneville and Mansfield have not met since 2015 but that doesn’t mean the players who will take the field Friday night at Bearcat Stadium have not crossed paths.
In 2015 the current seniors and juniors of the respective teams were in the ninth and eighth grades when the schools met in week 8 with Booneville winning behind both two offensive and a defensive touchdown by Carson Ray.
The seventh grade game in 2015 went to the Bearcats after Mansfield took an early lead. Those players are now sophomores.
The previous year Booneville also won a junior high game over the Tigers when Ray’s class were eighth graders – Brandon Ulmer threw for a touchdown and Marcus Nichols ran for one – and last year’s seniors were the freshmen.
However, that year Mansfield won the seventh grade game behind now junior Ethan Stovall.
