THIS DATE IN BEARCAT HISTORY: Booneville has pretty much owned the date. In games played on Sept. 28, the Bearcats are 9-1-1, including wins in the last seven games on the date.

Brad West was particularly splendid on this date in 2001, throwing for three touchdowns and returning a kickoff for another in a 49-11 win over Ozark in 2001. Josh Holloway had an 82-yard punt return in the same game. Jimmy Earl Holcomb also had an 80 yard scoring run and a 66-yard interception return for a touchdown, also against Ozark, in a 26-0 win in 1951. Craig Taylor also connected with Danny Jones for a 60-yard pass in a 20-6 win over Atkins in 1979.

One more note on the game at Ozark in 2001, the Bearcats were penalized a school record tying 130 yards in the game.

LAST NIGHT: The Booneville 7th Grade Bearcats (5-1) won 30-22 at West Fork. It was 30-6 at the half as Dax Goff had a pair of touchdown runs on just two carries and a touchdown reception from Rylen Ray.

Scoring 36 first half points, the Junior High Bearcats (2-3) picked up a 42-6 win over West Fork. Randon Ray ran for 140 yards and three touchdowns on just four first half carries. Rocky Ross also scored twice in the first half.
