NOTES: Injuries are mounting for the Bearcats this season. Evan Schlinker took over at quarterback for Brandon Ulmer last week after an MRI confirmed Ulmer suffered an ACL tear in the season opener. Devin Catlett had already been injured in the preseason. Dominic “Turkey” Helms is out a couple weeks after a shoulder injury in practice before the Ozark game. Also out this week is Dalton Tatum who broke a bone in his arm in last week’s game.
Also, the last Bearcat quarterback to throw for three touchdowns against Ozark was none other than Brad West. More on West is coming.
Booneville and Mansfield are the only 3A-1 teams who are looking to complete their nonconference slate 3-0 tonight. Lamar is also 1-0.

The most recent was a 25-7 win over Gravette in 2012 in which Cody Harrel ran for145 yards. Other big games on Sept. 7 include Jonathan Davis running for 176 yards against Charleston in a 34-6 win in 1990, Brad West going for 166 and Ronnie Becker adding 152 in a 28-13 win against De Queen in 2001. West had a 94-yard carry contributing to his effort and Davis had one of 85 to pad his total.
Robbie Jones also threw for 172 yards against Mena in a 21-0 win on this date in 1984. There was a 61-yard completion to Larry Simpson included. The 1990 game against Charleston also featured a 60-yard John Schlinker to Tracy Blankenship touchdown pass.
LAST NIGHT: The Booneville 7th Grade Bearcats (2-1) got three touchdown from three different players and three 2-point conversions, also from three different players in a 24-6 win at Pottsville. Logan Young was the leading rusher with 90 yards.
The Junior High Bearcats got their first win of the season, 28-14 over the Apaches, by scoring 22 unanswered points after Pottsville had taken a 14-6 lead. Randon Ray ran eight times 117 yards and three touchdowns and Mason Goers scored his first touchdown as a Bearcat and finished with 83 yards on eight carries.
