Matt Smith was selected to participate in the annual Arkansas High School Coaches Association all star baseball games to be played June 22, on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Smith hit in the three spot in head coach Randy Loyd’s order during the season and led the Rattlers in home runs with four.

Smith also manned the catcher spot for the Rattlers and was named all conference by league coaches after the season in which the Rattlers were the runner-up in both the regular season and district tournament.

Smith will be joined at the game by Lavaca’s Rey Lazano.

The West squad head coach is Lance Sprigner of Horatio.

The last Rattler to land a spot in the game was Shaeffer Loyd in 2017.

Smith becomes the fourth athlete and fifth person overall from south Logan County to receive an invitation to the event. Rachel May will lead the West cheerleaders, a squad that includes Brooklyn May and Lane Beckett, and Booneville volleyball player Haley Carter has also been invited.
