The Magazine Lady Rattlers picked up a conference win last week and took Hackett, to whom they had lost 10-0 earlier this year, to extra innings before falling.
Dover 14 Lady Rattlers 4
The Lady Pirates scored nine times in the fifth and sixth innings to put away the Lady Rattlers Monday in Dover.
Dover had taken a 3-0 first inning lead but the Lady Rattlers got one of the runs back when Kiara Vasquez drew a bases loaded walk to score Savanna Cessna, who had reached on a fielder’s choice in front of walks by Taryn Leslie and Kelsey Krigbaum.
In the fourth Leslie scored on a ball that got away from the Lady Pirate catcher to make it 4-2 but Dover got that run back in the bottom of the inning.
A six run fifth left the Lady Rattlers in it, down 11-2, and Braylea Mathews and Courtney Stone drove in runs in the sixth.
Dover scored three times in the bottom of the inning to end the game.
Lady Rattlers 15 Eureka Springs 0
The Lady Rattlers scored 10 times in the bottom of the third and ended the game early Tuesday.
The inning started with Emily Staton being hit by a pitch and Kelsey Krigbaum drawing a walk. A single by Kiara Vasquez loaded the bases and another by Victoria Thompson, with an error, resulted in four runs scoring.
Braylea Mathews restarted it with a single and Courtney Stone did the same. Adison Bennett grounded to a shallow right fielder who was able to throw her out at first but a run scored.
Savanna Cessna singled home a run and after walks to Jaysi Watson and Staton, Krigbaum popped out for the second out.
A three base error scored three to make it 14-0 and Vasquez reached third. She did not score when Thompson singled for the second time in the inning, but Vasquez did score when pinch hitter Raymie Davis reached on the third Lady Highlander error of the inning and fifth of the day.
Magazine scored five runs on three hits and two errors in the first inning.
Stone allowed only no hits. Eureka managed two baserunners, one via a hit batter and one via a walk and both in the third inning, but Stone recorded her eighth strike out to end the inning.
Hackett 8 Lady Rattlers 5 (8)
Three times the Lady Ratters trailed. Three times they drew even with Hackett. The fourth time would be too much as Hackett scored three times in the top of the eighth inning to escape Magazine with a win Thursday.
After Hackett scored on a ball away from the catcher in the second inning, Magazine’s Emily Staton did the same in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 1-1.
After Hackett went in front 3-1 in the top of the third Braylea Mathews and Reagan Pickartz walked and came around to score in the bottom of the third to make it 3-3.
A two run triple by Madi Taylor gave Hackett a 5-3 lead in the fourth but Magazine got those runs back in the fifth and sixth on a double by Staton and another ball away from the backstop.
Neither team scored in the seventh but Hackett got run scoring singles from Faith Thomas and Jayme Durham and another loose ball to make it 8-5.
Courtney Stone had three hits for the Lady Rattlers.
