The Lady Rattlers broke a four-game losing streak Thursday afternoon with a 6-2 win over Danville.
Magazine had opened the week with a loss at Hackett and a game scheduled at Charleston on Tuesday was postponed due to the Lady Tigers having scheduled two games on the same day.
Lady Rattlers 6 Danville 2
The Lady Rattlers fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first but Reagan Pickartz and Addison Bennett knocked in runs and another runs scored on a ball away from the Lady Little John catcher.
Magazine added single runs in the third through fifth innings and led 6-1. Emily Staton put a ball in play that resulted in a run in the fourth, Jaysi Watson scored before the inning ended on the base paths and in the fifth it was another run scoring on an errant pitch to make it 6-1.
Danville got a run back in the seventh but had an inning ended on the bases for the third time in the game.
Hackett 10 Lady Rattlers 0
Hackett’s Kayla Richardson got out of a first inning jam, hit a run scoring triple in the bottom of the first and went on to throw a shutout against Magazine Monday.
The Lady Rattlers had runners Braylea Mathrews at third and Reagan Pickartz at first with two down when Richardson got Addison Bennett swinging for her first of six strike outs to end the first inning.
The Lady Rattlers had only one more base runner the rest of the way, on Mathew’s second hit of the day, as Richardson sat down 13 of 14 to end it.
After Richardson’s first inning triple she scored on a Madison Bailey double and Bailey also later scored and it was 3-0. Hackett’s top third of the order scored seven times in the game.
It was 5-0 after four innings but the Lady Hornets doubled that in the bottom of the fifth to end the game early.
