FORT SMITH, Ark. – UAFS will look to make up some ground in its quest to repeat as Heartland Conference regular-season champion on Saturday when the nationally-ranked Lions host the conference-leading and nationally-ranked Dallas Baptist Patriots at the Stubblefield Center.

Tipoff will be 3 p.m. Live statistics and live stream will be available. The game will be broadcast on KHGG-AM 1580, KHGG-FM 101.1, KFPW-AM 1230 and KFPW-FM 96.7. It will be the first of three final home games for the Lions, who will host St. Edward’s on at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 10, and host Oklahoma Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, in the regular-season finale.

UAFS (18-4, 7-4), which is ranked No. 15 in the latest NABC Division II Top 25 and No. 22 in the latest D2SIDA Top 25, is locked in a four-way tie for second after Thursday night’s 73-64 road loss at Newman.

UAFS, Newman (10-11, 6-4), Rogers State (14-7, 5-4) and Lubbock Christian (9-11, 5-4) trail Dallas Baptist (18-3, 8-2) by two games after Thursday’s round of league games. The Patriots, who are ranked No. 18 in the latest NABC Division II Top 25 and No. 19 in the latest D2SIDA Top 25, extended their conference lead with a 59-57 road win at Rogers State on Thursday night.

The Lions will look to force a split in their regular-season series with the Patriots. Dallas Baptist beat UAFS 76-60 on Jan. 13 at the Burg Center in Dallas.

UAFS averages 83 points per game with three players averaging double-figures in scorning – senior guard Darrion Strong-Moore (14.6), senior guard DaVaunta Thomas (13.6) and senior guard Ladarius Coleman (12). Junior guard Chris Crawford leads the team in assists per game (3.3).

The Lions out-rebound their opponents by almost eight rebound per game (40.4-32.6). Coleman leads the team in rebounds per game (8.2) and is one of four players averaging four or more rebounds per game.

UAFS allows 71 points per game and forces 15 turnovers per game. Crawford leads the team in steals per game (1.3), and Thomas leads the team in blocked shots per game (0.6).

Dallas Baptist averages 82.4 points per game with three players averaging double-figures in scoring – Boy Van Vliet (14.4), Chandler Jacobs (13.7) and Patrick Burke (12.5). Van Vliet leads the team in assists per game (5.4).

The Patriots out-rebound their opponents by more three rebounds per game (33.7-30.4). Burke leads the team in rebounds per game (5.4) and is one of four players averaging four or more rebounds per game.
