Having played only five players, the Magazine Lady Rattlers led by seven points at halftime in Danville Thursday night before the Lady Little Johns were able to wear them down in a 50-35 win.
Playing the middle of the three game set, the Rattlers, minus Matt Smith, were over-matched in a 51-13 loss. The opener of the evening saw the Junior High Lady Rattlers fall 45-24.

Danville, who had hit six first quarter 3s and coasted to a 24-point win the first time the schools met, opened an 8-1 lead and led 11-5 before the Lady Rattlers (7-15) held the Lady Little Johns scorleless for over seven minutes.
A basket and both ends of a one-and-one from Kelsey Krigbaum and a both ends of another one-and-one by Kiara Vasquez tied the game before Reagan Pickartz hit a 3 for the lead. Krigbaum hit two 3s herself and it was 20-11 before a basket by Maddie Stanley got Danville within 20-13.
With 4:12 to play in the third quarter the Danville bench was assessed a technical foul and Krigbaum hit both free throws to give the Lady Rattlers a 26-18 lead.
The technical foul came in the backcourt with Danville pressing, and after Vasquez had been called for her fourth foul meaning Randy Loyd had to send in his lone available substitute, Lauren Littleton.
Neither team shot another free throw for the next 7:32. By the end of the third quarter Krigbaum had been called for a charge — twice — there was an obvious out of bounds call botched and, still executing the press, Danville had muscled its way to a 29-26 lead.
The run would be one of 15 before another Krigbaum free throw with 4:33 left made it 33-27.
Danville pulled out to a 43-27 lead with 1:50 left before two 3s from Pickartz and a couple of free throws by Krigbaum cut it back to 43-35.
The Lady Little Johns scored the final seven points of the night, five coming from Stanley, who had 24 in the game.
In addition to her nine points on her three 3s, Pickartz also pulled down nine rebounds.

With Matt Smith home with the flu the Rattlers (11-9) didn’t score for almost six minutes to start the game, trailed 12-1 after a quarter and didn’t score at all in the final eight minutes while the clock ran continuously.
Still, the Little Johns led only 12-6 after a Randon Baumgartner bucket with 5:55 left in the first half and just 15-8 after one by Chase Gibson with 4:49 remaining in the half.
That was as close as it would get as the Little Johns closed the half on a 12-0 run and extended it to 18-0 before a Max Greb free throw.
Gibson and Baumgarnter baskets were it for the Rattlers the rest of the game. Gibson’s seven led the Rattlers.
Danville 45 Jr. Lady Rattlers 24
The Lady Rattlers (8-8) were in the game for the entire first half, behind just 15-9 after one quarter which featured five Jordyn Krigbaum points.
Magazine trialed only 20-15 at the intermission but Danville scored the first nine second half points and continued to pull away the rest of the way.
Kylie Robinson finally ended the drought with two of her team-high 15 points — she also had seven steals — just 30 seconds before the third quarter ended.
Danville’s Lydia Stanley scored just before the quarter ended to make it 31-17 and she scored her team’s next nine points as well before finally coming out of the game with 25 points with 2:15 left and Danville leading 40-24.
