RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – For the seventh-straight year, Harding has taken the lead in the Great American Conference All-Sports Standings following the fall sports seasons. The Bisons and Lady Bisons totaled 43.5 points to lead the race by eight points.

The reigning GAC All-Sports champions received the full seven points after winning the Men’s Cross Country Championships. Across the five qualifying sports, the Bisons and Lady Bisons finished in the top three in all five, placing second in volleyball, tying for second in football and taking third in women’s cross country and women’s soccer.

In its first year eligible for the trophy, Oklahoma Baptist posted a strong fall to sit in second. The Lady Bisons won at the Women’s Cross Country Championships and claimed the regular-season title in women’s soccer. They took third in volleyball.

Arkansas Tech finished the fall in third. Led by an undefeated regular season in volleyball, the Golden Sun picked up 12 points in that sport. The Wonder Boys shared second in football and the women’s cross country squad finished fourth.

Only four points separated fourth place from 10th. Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Arkansas shared fourth. A year ago, the Rangers sat in last place after the fall season, but have experienced a renaissance, buoyed by a fourth-place finish in volleyball. SAU took second in men’s cross country and shared fourth in football.

East Central and Ouachita shared sixth. Ouachita won its third football title; ECU’s best result came in cross country where it took second. Southern Nazarene, Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State rounded out the bunched group of six. Henderson State and Arkansas-Monticello filled out the standings.

NOTE: Schools earn points toward the GAC All-Sports Trophy based upon their finish in all sports that are sponsored by six or more schools. The regular season standings determine the points in sports with a round-robin schedule. The conference championship event determines the points in sports without a regular season format.
