Randon Ray threw two touchdown passes to Jacob Herrera and ran for another touchdown but it wasn’t enough as the Booneville Junior High Bearcats dropped a 22-21 decision to Waldron Thursday night at Bearat Stadium.

Waldron quarterback Braden Williams matched Ray with two touchdown passes — to Caden Fuller for 18 yards and Bryson Bailey for 16 — and a rushing score as well, but it was his two point conversion run that put Waldron in front, 22-21 with 7:57 to go in the football game.

Ray hit Herrera for 25 yards on the game’s first possession and hit him for 44 after a fumbled kickoff with the game tied at 14-14.

Ray threw for 69 and ran for 30 for the Bearcats (2-4-1, 1-3 Conference 4A-4). Williams threw for 65 and ran for 75 for Waldron (4-3, 2-2).

Trenton Hunt ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns for Waldron and Matt Brigance threw a 20-yard touchdown pass in a shutout of the Bearcats (4-3, 1-3 Conference 4A-4).

Drake Wagner caught the touchdown pass and ran for both two point conversions for the Bulldogs (7-0, 4-0).

Brett Welling ran for 33 yards to lead the Bearcats and Chase Plymale had four solo and three assisted tackles.

Magazine Jr. Rattlers 24 Lavaca 6

The Magazine Jr. High Rattlers ended a two game skid with a 24-6 win at Lavaca.

The Rattlers (3-2, 1-2 Conference 2A-4) got two touchdowns from Kobe Faughan, and a touchdown and there two point conversions from Tatum Scott and built a 24-0 halftime lead.

The second Faughan touchdown and third Scott conversion came with 29.9 seconds left in the half.

Lavaca got on the scoreboard with under three minutes to play.
