The Booneville Junior High Bearcats closed out a dismal September with a 44-19 loss to Ozark at Bearcat Stadium Thursday night.
Winless since a season opening win on Aug. 31, the Bearcats (1-3-1, 0-2 Conference 4A-4) were down just 8-7 when the second quarter began but Ozark (5-0, 2-0) scored twice in a 19 second span and added a third touchdown in the quarter just 3:09 later and it was 30-7.
Randon Ray hit Jacob Herrera with an 18-yard touchdown pass just 16 seconds before halftime to cut it to 30-13 but it was 44-13 by the time Rocky Ross went 46 yards for a score with 3:50 remaining.
Ty Goff had scored the first Bearcat touchdown on a 1-yard run.
Ozark got four rushing touchdowns, a passing touchdown and another score came on an 84-yard punt return by Tyler Sanders.
Duke Walker led the Hillbillies with 4 carries for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Ray had 17 carries for 107 yards for the Bearcats.

Down 16-0 when the second half began the Bearcats (3-2, 0-2) drove 70 yards to make it 16-8 on a Brett Welling 19-yard run and two-point conversion.
The Bearcats got the ball back and reached the Ozark 29, but turned the ball over on downs in the final minute of the game.
Ozark moves to 3-2, 1-1.
The Junior High Rattlers (2-1) were idle this week.
