Down by 14 at halftime the Booneville Bearcats rallied to hand Charleston a 68-63 loss in Franklin County Friday night.
The Bearcats were led by Tucker Knight’s 17 points. Three others also reached double figures – Caden Yarborough with 15 and Blakely Cobb and Adam Haney with 11 each.
Charleston won the girls game, 56-27. Bailey Denton and Karlie Campos scored 8 points each for Booneville.
Magazine was also on the road sweeping games at Western Yell County in the blended 1A/2A conference opener.
Matt Smith scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half and the Rattlers pulled away from the Wolverines for a 51-38 win. James Burr put in 11 points.
The Lady Rattlers were led by sophomore Kelsey Krigbaum’s 14 points, the last three coming at the free throw line as Magazine also beat back a stubborn WYC club, 53-50.
Kalyn Bryan added 11 points, all in a key third quarter in which Magazine took the lead for good. Kieara Thomas also scored 12.
