The Magazine Junior High Rattlers kept their unbeaten season alive with a 26-0 win over Lavaca Thursday night at Diamondback Stadium.

The Rattlers (6-0, 3-0 Conference 2A-4) led only 6-0 at the intermission but scored twice quickly in the third quarter to extend the edge to 20-0.

The offense did the first damage scoring on the first possession of the half on a Tatum Scott run and Caleb Hyatt two point conversion to make it 14-0.

A miscue on the ensuing kickoff helped and the Rattler defense compounded the matter and Lavaca found itself punting from its own end zone. When the punt bounced off a Golden Arrow helmet and back into the end zone Koby Faughn wrestled the ball away from an Arrow for a touchdown to make it 20-0.

The Rattlers put the game away in the final quarter with Hyatt’s second touchdown of the night. Hyatt finished with 14 carries for an even 100 yards.

Hyatt had provided the Rattlers with their 6-0 halftime lead with a first quarter scoring run.

Scott had 53 yards on his seven carries and though they totaled just 9 yards, Scott caught both of the passes thrown by Xeng Yang in the game.

Lavaca managed only 54 total yards, completing 1-of-7 passes for 18 yards to go with 36 rushing yards. David Johnson also accounted for a turnover with a recovery of a Golden Arrow fumble.

The Rattlers will try to remain unbeaten tomorrow when they visit Johnson County Westside. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
