Sammy Ray Lunsford

Sammy Ray Lunsford, 69, of Booneville, passed away, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in his home near Booneville. He was born July 20, 1943 in McGehee to Evan Thomas and Alma Inez (Reeves) Lunsford.

He was a retired butcher and served in the Arkansas Army National Guard and the California Army Reserves. He enjoyed racing cars when he was younger.

He is preceded in death by son, Sammy Ray Lunsford, Jr., and three brothers, Charles, Thomas Lee and Jack Lunsford, and his parents.

A funeral service was held Friday, May 3, at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Booneville, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

He is survived by one daughter Tammy Jewell Standifer and husband Jerry of Howell, Okla.; one son, Dick Lunsford and wife Rachel of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Helen Harper and husband Leon and Carol Osborne and husband Doc, all of Booneville; one brother, Alphes Lunsford and wife Mildred of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Heather, Samantha, Lucy, Emma, Trey, and Emily; and one great-grandson, Dalton.

Pallbearers were Glyndall Johnson, Billy Ray Cook, Harmon Halford, Don Thrasher, Roger Osborne, and Jordan Pirraglia.
