Lila Mae Ladd
A chapel service for Lila Mae Ladd, 88, longtime taxi service for the Clinton, Okla., area, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Patrick Peters and burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Lila Mae (Hicks) Ladd was born Aug. 15, 1925 to Andrew W. "Brit" and Mamie Frances (Kingsborough) Hicks in Cauthron Township, Logan County Arkansas and passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2013 in the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton, Okla.
She was raised in Arkansas and attended her schooling there. She was married to Augusta Tom Ladd, Jr. on Sept. 16, 1942 in Boonville. She moved to Clinton and waitressed for many years at Ralph’s Truck Stop. She, along with her husband, owned and operated the Hub City Taxi Service as well as delivering Clinton Daily newspapers on a route and to people who did not receive their paper. She considered that her main purpose in life was to taking care of her family. She was also dedicated to her work with the Hub City Taxi Company.
She loved the people she met through the years and made many lifelong friendships. She loved working outdoors, gardening and collecting rocks. She enjoyed canning fresh peaches and fresh vegetables; she liked to fish, play Yahtzee and playing outdoors with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Ladd, Jr.; her parents; and brothers, James E. Hicks and his wife, Dorothy, Dale Hicks and his wife, Glenna, and Hobert Hicks was well as special sisters-in-law, Rena Williams, Nana Weeks and Pauline Hicks; and her mother and father-in-law, Tom and Lola Ladd.
She is survived by her children, Sharron Ladd, Tommy Ladd, Charles Ladd, Carla Ladd Suitor and her companion Robert Bryan, of Clinton, Okla., Carolyn Bradley and husband, Sammy, of Big Cabin, Okla.; brother Carl C. Hicks, of Booneville, sister, Margie Hicks Waggoner, of Little Rock; sisters-in-law, Betty Hicks of Booneville, Jean Hopkins and husband, Dewayne of Magazine, and Jaqueline Ladd of New Mexico.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Frances Shoemaker and companion Raymie Payne, Foyil, Okla. Lee Harmon and his wife Christi of Batesville, Tommy Ladd, II, of Clinton, Okla., Bobby Suitor, II and his wife, Rhonda, of Texas, Micaela Suitor and fiancée, Joel Marquez of Arapaho, Okla., Jamie Spurgon and husband Mike, Lindsay Baxter and husband Brad, Jon Bryan and wife, Heather of Texas and Michelle Willett Soverns, of Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Brandy Parkill and husband, Joey, of Tulsa, Okla., Kristine Godsey, Oologah, Okla., Shannen Godsey and wife, Amanda and Dakota Shoemaker, all of Foyil, Okla., Peyton and Joseph Suitor, of Moore, Okla., Kayleigh and Bobeigh K. Suitor, Ashley and William Scott Baxter, all of Texas, Courtney Buquet, Katie Brant and Madison Soverns, all of Pennsylvania.
