Janice Eddleman, 71, of Booneville, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 in Fort Smith. She was born Cora Janice Bufford to Wilson Hugh and Nobia Lee Jeffrey Bufford on June 15, 1941 in Desha, Ark.
She was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. She was a 30-year employee of the Fort Smith Public School System serving as a teacher of social studies at Southside High School. She also taught courses on the college level at Carl Albert Junior College in Poteau, Okla. She was a member of the National Educational Association, the Arkansas Education Association, the Fort Smith Classroom Teachers’ Association, the Arkansas Council for Social Studies and Teachers of Arkansas Studies Council.
A funeral service was held Friday, June 14, in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, John L. Eddleman of Booneville; a sister, Anita Farra of Texarkana; a niece, Andrea Mason; and a great-nephew, Samuel Mason.
Pallbearers will be Tim Garvey, Jimmy Garvey, Jason Garvey, Wayne Haver, John Samuels, Larry Loux, David Overton and Dave Ollard.
